The European Marathon was born in Aveiro in 2019, with the desire to create a great race in Portugal, where sport meets the natural and cultural beauty of the region. Today, it is recognized as one of the 100 best marathons in the world, ranking 95th in the official World Athletics rankings.
This flat, fast and internationally certified course has become a favorite among those looking to break records or simply live a unique experience. The race allows each athlete to score points in the world ranking, opening the door to new achievements across borders.
But what makes this marathon truly special is where it takes place. Aveiro, city and region, is a hidden treasure, where canals reflect heritage and moliceiros (traditional boats) glide gracefully along the estuary.
